Learning about Leadership

“It’s a boy!” Last year, we welcomed our son into the world. We named him ‘Abhiraj’ - a fearless king, inspired by King David’s example of courageous leadership. While Abhiraj lies peacefully sleeping by my side, I’ve taken the opportunity to read and reflect on Space for Grace articles, stories, tools and resources on leadership and OD. What began as a ‘mining’ assignment to identify useful leadership material from the Learning Page turned into a major reflection, helping me to look within and…See More

Turning Leaders' Hearts

“We have decided, in principle, to work together”… The words leaped at me from the email, heralding a new beginning and hope for the future. We had been working closely with a health care institution and a charitable organization to reach a consensus and work together. The past few months had been tough. At times it seemed as if there was no way through. The endless series of negotiations, meetings, individual and collective reflections appeared to be going nowhere. It just left hurt egos and…See More

Sharing What We Have...

On a hot Indian summer’s day, two little boys walked into our store. Asking for ice cream and two spoons, one of them slipped a Rs. 5/- coin on the cashier’s table. They walked out together, carefully holding the small cup of ice cream.  Curious, I followed and watched from a distance as they sat together on a bench outside the store. Solemnly and in unspoken agreement, they opened the ice cream cover.  Each holding a flat wooden spoon, they took turns scooping up the few mouthfuls of ice…

Grace in the Struggle for Change

Posted on May 10, 2015 at 18:00 0 Comments

Mure Memorial Hospital was founded in 1891 in Nagpur, in the heart of India. What began as a small dispensary grew into a thriving 165 bed hospital. A core group of medical and administrative mission and local staff passionately served the poor and needy in the surrounding communities. But over the years, the hospital deteriorated. Key doctors resigned and the new leadership and management did not have the competence to sustain the growth as well as raise resources. Staff morale…

Thanks for the recommendation about Moses. He is now a member of the group. It would be great if he does write something about financial management. This needs greater emphasis. I'm not sure why your photo did not appear as your profile photo. I was hoping to have your face rather than a green silhouette. Maybe you need to click on the green face or just underneath and add photo there. I'll ask Lorentz about this.

Dear Priya,
Great to have you on board. How did you hear about the group? Would you also like to be put on the mailing list for the monthly bulletins? If so, let me know your email and I'll add you to the list.
Best wishes
Rick
