Hindustani Covenant Church in Flames

On 28th Nov, 2011, at 7:15 AM, the Hindustani Covenant Church in Pune has reduced to ashes. The 250 year old church has caught in the early hours. The entire church was burnt and what could be seen is just a black sooth of carbon. Though the walls are intact, the furniture, the Bibles, and all the books, Musical instruments, windows, the holy place, everything has burnt.

Everything just happened in 10 minutes. Mahesh the care taker and Raju, the Cashier has run for help but could not save their beloved church. Fire engines, press reporters, the army and the police rushed but in vain. Many church members gathered the premises…..seeing their church turned into black ashes…..every member weeped….the youth cried inconsolably, so the pastors, the women and every heart there wept…….

The day before “The candle of Hope” was lit. The speaker, Pastor Jyotirmayadeep read from Luke 2:25-26
He said I didn’t find the word “Hope” for today’s sermon. But the hope is for tomorrow, when the old Anna is replaced by the new born Jesus…..That was the time when Old Testament has concluded only to give birth to the New Testament.

Dear Brothers and sisters of HCC !!!!! Here’s the hope. Anna from the tribe of Asher was old …Our church built at the time of Britishers is also old. May be the Lord is sending a message to build the New Covenant…….Let’s not weep, let’s not get disheartened. Take the message from Lord, to be united…..come together and rebuild the church as “The new Covenant”. Gather your energies, show your abilities, come one, come all…….the Lord is with you…..understand his message….build the church in no time……..Gain your strengths, Join hands with your fellow brothers & sisters and foster for rebuilding the Temple of your lord. That Temples where many people were healed, many wounded hearts were saved, many tears were wiped out. It’s time for us to be brave and console each other……

All the brothers and sisters of the World are requested to pray for HCC, Pune…….
Your prayers will heal our broken hearts, your prayers will touch our dear Lord and amidst all your prayers the New Covenant will be born again along with the birth of Jesus Christ on this December 25th……..

OPERATION RESURRECTION

My Earlier discussion “HCC in Flames” was about the situation at Hindustani Covenant Church after it caught with the fire. Rick asked a question “What are the implications for us as learning group members interested in organisational change of churches?”

Well, the following incident might throw some light on the above question.

When the fire broke out, all the church members were shocked, disheartened and their sentiments…
